Winstanley College Fashion Show

Winstanley College Art Foundation students put on a stunning fashion show to highlight their latest creations. Gaining inspiration from a visit to the Walker Art Gallery and fashion designers, students had to create a piece of body sculpture using recycled/reclaimed materials. The pressure was on as they had 2 weeks to produce their masterpieces.

Nerves were jangling before the final show but they needn’t have worried. With a pulsating soundtrack, smart set design and cool lighting, students were soon strutting their stuff.

Art teacher Amanda Luyt was impressed: “The students have orchestrated the whole show. In teams they have worked on styling, hair and make-up, lighting, set design and construction, image projection and choreography resulting in an exciting themed production called ‘Art Couture’.”

Art Foundation student Sarah Fox said: “We really enjoyed the freedom to be as adventurous as we could and the opportunity to translate a piece of art into a sculpture that enveloped the body. The show has given me a taste of a career in the fashion industry, covering all aspects from making and modelling our pieces, to creating an exciting set and innovative hair and make-up. We really appreciate that Winstanley has the facilities and ambition to put on a professional show.”
