Jessie J helped me to help a homesless man

Jessie

After seeing Jessie J in Manchester last night, I made a conscious decision to take her advice and be more positive. I made a promise to myself that every time I think a negative thought I will donate 50p to charity, a bit like a swear box I suppose. Today I woke up and went to make breakfast as normal but saw our kitchen was a mess so after sending a rant to all of my flatmates via Facebook, I decided to eat out. I walked into town and on my way home had a grumble to myself about the rain and the cold weather. I then crossed the road and saw a homeless man sitting on the ground with his head down, trying to keep warm under a thin plastic sheet. Without a second thought I went into the next shop and brought him a hot chocolate. He was so thankful and happy at this small gesture that I couldn’t help to smile as well. The drink cost me £1 and gave him happiness and warmth. I could well have been the only person to stop, and the first and only person to speak to him all day. We should never take what we have for granted, be appreciative and thankful for everything and give what we can – money, time, advice, help, patience etc. to help others. x
